![]() ![]() It's really refreshing to play a round of Chiv when you're just not in the mood to play For Honor, especially when you're just about to chill. Can it still be fun? Hell yes, of course it can. While you can get really wobbly knees, shaky, sweaty hands and emotional outbursts when playing for honor it's pretty unlikely that it happens when you play Chivalry 2. For Honor is a more competetive and complex game where a lot of money was put into while Chivalry 2 is more of a casual slasher game who doesn't take itself too seriously. Those two games are apparently very different and can't really be compared. The animations in this game are simply top notch!Ĭhivalry 2 was compared with For Honor long before it was released and many people got disappointed and laid it back really fast. ![]() Ubi took so much passion (and money) on this category of the game and I need to shout out to them for that. When you play by yourself you won't notice all those beautiful things since you're simply too focused on objectives and fights (gameplay). To fully notice this I highly recommend to each and everyone of you to watch some For Honor gameplay on YouTube. Please have a look at all those executions and different attacks. When i compare the movements with not only Chivalry 2 but any other game where you move a person around and especially combat games cough UFC 4 cough I have to say that I've never seen a game where the motion capture is so good and the moves are so clean. Thing is that those animations are pretty clean but they seem "messed up" because they're sped up because game balancing requires it. Especially when we talk about Highlander. I've seen so many complains about "messed up" or "bad" animations in For Honor. But let me now take my point to For Honor here: ![]() Just like I've mentioned in the previous point - Torn Banner is a relatively small studio and proper motion capture is somewhat expensive. It looks a bit "sloppy" but it's really not bad at all. There isn't that much to talk about animations in Chivalry 2 since it's simply not as complex when it comes to movements. Chivalry 2 doesn't even come close to this, absolutely no comparison! BUT to be fair, Torn Banner is way way! smaller than Ubisoft and Ubi took a load of money into the development of For Honor so that's fine. For Honor is visually a masterpiece no matter if it's the maps, the armors or the weapons. Hands down, I haven't found a single thing that looks better or even equally good on chivalry 2. You can't customize it as much as for honor with all those color schemes, outfits and armor variants but for honor also is a lot older than chivalry 2 so there's more to come for sure! You have like at for honor a couple of armor and weapon variants but mostly skins of the same type. Here we also have many options to customize our character. It's more fair but also a lot more boring. You don't get into a flow or a mix up but that's just because I have over 1200h in For Honor and under 100 in Chiv2. It's better in game modes with less players but it's a lot slower than for honor and also a little bit stiff. Since I've played chivalry 2 I'm not in that boat anymore! You'd get slaughtered in seconds, respawn, repeat. I've read a lot in the past that many players here want to have game modes with way more players. Every match here feels really similar - you swing a lot moving your cam from left to right which is so confusing and, honestly, unfun. ![]() To make up for this you can move your camera while you're attacking and also while blocking to hit/block multiple opponents. However, since Chivalry 2 is made for really big battles with up to 64! players you can't log onto an opponent of course. You have a light attack and you can charge your attacks. But on the other side it takes a whole lot off of the replayability from the game.Ĭhivalry 2 also uses a lot of mechanics that for honor has like recovery cancel and soft feints. I've now played it for a while and would like to give my review.Įven though there are 12 different classes every character has the same moveset which already takes out the main problem new players have with for honor since in order to not get totally wrecked you have to know every mix-up and every move properties (unblockable, undodgeable etc.) of every hero. I never looked for an alternative to For Honor but this game seemed interesting for a long time now and it's out now for a couple of months so many improvements happened and it's more fair now to judge and compare. I managed to get Chivalry 2 for 10€ from Amazon (used already but even the royal zweihänder code worked!). ![]()
